Sr. Reliability Engineer PFMC Business Unit, MKS InstrumentsAndover, MA Summary: MKS is committed to being the highest quality and reliability provider of process control solutions for advanced manufacturing.

As part of this mission, the Sr. Reliability Engineer will enhance PFMC reliability program with emphasis on product reliability and design improvement.

The successful candidate will also act as internal subject matter expert for Design and Development Engineering on these topics.

Details: Support the generation of electrical and electromechanical component specifications that also can be used as component procurement specifications.

Provide reliability engineering support to design and development, product test and manufacturing engineering.

Develop and analyzes failure rate database including product field failures, customer failures, Manufacturing (including HALT/HASS Testing), and Warranty product/service sources.

Interface with design engineering, manufacturing engineering and marketing organizations to establish test plans.

Contribute/work with new product development cross functional teams.

Participate in product design reviews and provide design-for-reliability guidance, Support the generation / development or update of design verification / validation test, product burn in test, STRIFE testing, and product/service systemic reliability/qualification test conduct and plans.

Requirements: BSEE minimum.

Minimum 7 years of reliability engineering experience, with a demonstrated record of continuous reliability improvement.

Strong knowledge of state of the art reliability assessment and improvement methods in electronic and/or with electromechanical systems.

Electronic and electromechanical component reliability testing/qualification experience; Reliability prediction /stress analysis experience including DFMEA, RBD, Allocation, MTBF, MTTF, or failure rate establishment with/without confidence intervals via parts count or actual stresses using either MIL-HDBK 217, Bellcore / Telcordia references or using Relex S/W System; Component engineering experience with the generation, procurement and qualification of electrical and electromechanical components, using n house generated component specifications that could also be used as component vendor qualification specifications; Strong knowledge of PCB assembly and electronic component failure mechanisms and manufacturing methodology; Some hardware (DVT, STRIFE, HALT/HASS, Qualification) and software testing, (eg RS232, 488, DeviceNet and Profibus; LabView) experience is highly desirable; Software QA and lifecycle experience desirable;Familiarity with regulatory requirements including NRTL certification, CE Mark, Semi S2/S8, and RoHS; Semiconductor, automotive and/or medical experience a plus; Ability to communicate and work cross-functionally, and with customer, to resolve issues.
